In a low-scoring game between New York and Houston, pitcher Gerrit Cole was excellent. The New York right-hander helped his team knock off the Astros, 2-1. The 5th-place Yankees improved to 77-64.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when New York shortstop Anthony Volpe, facing Ryne Stanek, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Yankees the 2-1 win.

"A great team win and something real positive we can build on," said Volpe after the game.
