The Miami Marlins picked up a win at loanDepot Park, topping the Cincinnati Reds, 5-2. On the mound for Miami was right-hander Eury Perez. He played a principal role in the triumph. Perez, now 12-9, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. The Marlins saw their win-loss record go to 82-73. At the same time, the Reds fell to 78-78.
Vidal Bruján had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the second for Miami. With the bases loaded and the Marlins leading 1-0, he grounded out, driving in 1 run.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Perez. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
