Twins Stymie Arizona, Take 4-1 Win
|
Minnesota pitcher Josh Winder did his part in helping his team beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 4-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Winder got the win, improving to 3-1. He gave up 1 hit and walked 1 over 5.1 innings. He allowed no runs. Jorge Alcala recorded the save for Minnesota, his 1st of the season.
Brian Anderson hit a 3-run home run off Julian Merryweather in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Twins ahead, 3-0. In addition to the homer, Anderson had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Anderson said.
The third-place Twins have a record of 27-30.
