Williams Whacks 2 Home Runs in 4-1 Win
|
Bernie Williams was a major factor in the 4-1 Detroit win over St. Louis. The Tigers center fielder slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. Detroit occupies third place in the Rawlings Charleston at 65-66.
Williams contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Detroit in the top of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Williams took a fastball from Jim Hardin and stroked the home run to left-center. His 8th home run of the season allowed the Tigers to leap in front, 2-1.
"We take it day by day here," said Williams, "and today was a good one for us."
