Mets Advance to Round 2
The Syracuse Mets are heading to the Round 2, having narrowly defeated the Indianapolis Indians.

Syracuse edged Indianapolis in the series 3-2, with a win at Victory Field in the clinching game by a 3-2 margin.

Bobby Vargas turned in a strong offensive performance for the Mets and got series MVP for his efforts.

"I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a Round 2 win."

It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Vargas continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance.

For the series, he hit .235 with a .381 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, 7 RBI and scored 4 runs.

The Syracuse Mets will play against the Norfolk Tides in the next round. Norfolk won their series against the Scranton WB RailRiders 3 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
