After their 5-4 win today at George M. Steinbrenner Field over the GCL Yankees, the GCL Pirates will advance to the Round 2. GCL won the series by a 2-0 margin.

Leading the way for the Pirates was right fielder Bob Davis, who had a spectacular series and was named MVP.

"I don't play differently in the regular season or playoffs. I just go out and do my best every game," he said. "It's certainly nice to play in the big game, but you can't let it get to your head and change your focus."

The GCL Pirates will play against the GCL Orioles in the next round. GCL had a bye in the Round 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
