Fayetteville Moves on to Round 2
The Fayetteville Woodpeckers are riding high after winning the Round 1 and eliminating the Carolina Mudcats by a series score of 3-1.

The final blow came tonight at Five County Stadium, when Fayetteville secured its spot in the Round 2 with a 11-4 victory.

"It feels good to put them away because we really didn't want to let them crawl back into this series," said shortstop Cris Soto, who was named series MVP. "A team like that, you need to bury them when you get the chance."

Soto certainly helped his team's cause, as he hit .312 with a .476 on-base percentage in the series. He also chipped in 1 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 5 runs.

The Fayetteville Woodpeckers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Lynchburg Hillcats - Frederick Keys series. Lynchburg leads the series 2 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
