Lynchburg Moves on to Round 2
The Lynchburg Hillcats are heading to the Round 2, having narrowly defeated the Frederick Keys.

Lynchburg edged Frederick in the series 3-2, with a win at Calvin Falwell Field in the clinching game by a 13-2 margin.

Landy Pena turned in a strong offensive performance for the Hillcats and got series MVP for his efforts.

"I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a Round 2 win."

It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Pena continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance.

For the series, he hit .524 with a .583 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 8 RBI and scored 7 runs.

The Lynchburg Hillcats will play against the Fayetteville Woodpeckers in the next round. Fayetteville won their series against the Carolina Mudcats 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.\n
