Fans at Haley Toyota Field at Salem Memorial Ballpark saw the Round 1 come to a close today, as the Salem Red Sox defeated the Lynchburg Hillcats by a score of 7-0, and advanced to the Round 2.

Salem won the series 3-1 and will now continue their march toward the Round 2.

"It feels good to be moving on, I can't deny it," said center fielder Jesus Maita, who was named series MVP. "Not everyone thought we'd make it this far."

The Salem Red Sox don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Fayetteville Woodpeckers - Myrtle Beach Pelicans series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
