Medievals End Rivera Streak Monday, August 13th , 2029 The Gilberts Seawolves lost to the Anchorage Medievals, 3-1, at Seawolves Field, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Luis Rivera's 20-game hitting streak. The second baseman went 0-for-1 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Rivera, we would win the game," Medievals manager explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." During the current season Rivera is batting at a .357 clip with 16 home runs and 65 RBIs. He has played in 104 games and scored 105 times. |
