Cubs Pull Out Late Win, 2-1
Cleveland got a big-time effort from pitcher Joe Floyd, but it wasn't enough to keep the Chicago Cubs from winning the game, 2-1. Floyd threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Chicago reliever A.J. Minter was the winner. His record is now 4-1. Alex Vesia took the loss. Chicago, at 80-80, occupies 4th place in the National League NL Central.

The game came to a climactic end in the bottom of the ninth. With Chicago trailing 1-0, Chris Stephenson delivered the big blow, hitting a fastball from Alex Vesia for a 2-run home run. Just like that, the Cubs had a walk-off win.

"The object of the game is to score more runs than they do," said Stephenson. "Mission accomplished."
