Mets Topple Giants with Late Rally
|
Citi Field was the site of a competitive game between the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets.
The New York Mets picked up a win at Citi Field, knocking off the San Francisco Giants, 4-2. Starting pitcher Josh Juris was a big reason why. Diego Castillo earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record is now 5-1.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Brayan Rocchio came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing San Francisco pitcher Ben Brown, he hit a 1-0 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting New York on top, 2-1.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Juris.
New York occupies 7th place in the National League East Division at 70-78.
