Late Offense Lifts St. Louis to 5-3 Victory
|
Blake Snell, who is tied for 10th in the NL in strikeouts with 187, had a strong outing for the St. Louis Cardinals against the Chicago Cubs at Busch Stadium. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. Kamar LeSane earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. His record is now 1-0. Robert Colina picked up the save for St. Louis, his 34th of the year.
St. Louis took a 5-3 lead on Blake Cavill's 22nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Cavill hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Chicago pitcher Dylan Lee visibly frustrated.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Cavill said.
With the win, St. Louis has a record of 87-69. Chicago falls to 99-56.
