The Kansas City Royals got a sterling performance from pitcher Mike Harrison, but the Minnesota Twins still prevailed, 3-2. Harrison threw 6.1 innings allowing 2 runs. Minnesota pitcher Ian Curran earned the win, hiking his record to 8-4. Tommy Groom suffered the loss. Clayton Beeter closed out the game, earning his 33rd save.

Tony Ruiz, who is tied for 7th in the AL in home runs with 30, had a direct impact on the outcome. Ruiz contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the eighth inning to put Minnesota up, 3-2.

"Winning never gets old," said Ruiz.

The first-place Royals dropped to 94-61.
