Oakland Loses Again, 6-1
|
The Houston Astros beat the Oakland Athletics, 6-1, at Oakland Coliseum. The win was due in part to designated hitter Christopher Espinola, who was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times. Picking up the win was Jake Stirnaman. He went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits. The right--hander struck out 1 and walked 3. The last-place Athletics have dropped 8 straight games.
Houston used a well-timed hit by Emmanuel Rodriguez to capture the win. The left fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Astros ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We've got to kick it in gear soon," said Oakland manager Nick Doul.
