The Houston Colt .45's trumped the Chicago Cubs, 7-2, at Wrigley Field. Houston third baseman Jesus Santillano was terrific. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs. Houston reliever Kevin Aldrich was the winner. His record is now 5-7. Chad George took the loss. Houston, at 87-57, is 5½ games up in the American League AL West.

Houston needed the clutch hitting of Emmanuel Rodriguez to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Colt .45's on top, 6-2. For the game, Rodriguez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Jesus may be green behind the ears," said Colt .45's manager Vinny D. "But he's quickly learning how to contribute."
