New York third baseman Chris Martin played a vital role in his team's 11-1 conquest of Minnesota. He was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 for New York. Bobby Lull locked down his 2nd save. New York, now 74-70, holds down second place in the American League AL East.
Making an impact for the home team was Steven Kwan. In the bottom of the third, the two-time Gold Glove Award winner had a run-scoring walk. That made the score 3-1, Yankees.
