Riley Hits 2 home runs in Dodgers Win
|
Austin Riley knocked in 3 runs to help Brooklyn beat Cincinnati, 7-0. Riley produced 1 single and 2 home runs. James Paxton got the win, improving to 5-9. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Cincinnati is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.
The Dodgers got an important contribution from shortstop Marcelo Mayer, who in the bottom of the third punched a 1-0 fastball into center for a 2-run double. It was his 25th double of the season and put the Dodgers ahead, 3-0.
"I believe in our guys," said Brooklyn skipper Mike Dodgers. "I like the energy they're playing with."
