Blue Jays Drop Tigers, 5-4
|
Elehuris Montero had a good game, but he could not keep the Detroit Tigers from falling, 5-4, to the Toronto Blue Jays at Comerica Park. The Detroit first baseman was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 in the loss. Tyler Glasnow, the winner, improved to 6-12. He held the Tigers to 2 runs on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Picking up the save was Edwin Diaz, his 24th.
Toronto used the bat of Matt Olson to get the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 5-2. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Detroit manager Joel Wade. "But we decided not to take it."
The Blue Jays go to 46-83 with the win.
