Yankees Score Late, Upend Twins, 7-5
|
Despite a great performance by Minnesota catcher Tyler Soderstrom, the New York Yankees defeated the Twins by the score of 7-5 at Target Field. Soderstrom went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to Adrian Morejon in relief. His record improves to 7-5. Luis Gil took the loss. Andrew Misiaszek recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 3 for 4.
New York needed the clutch hitting of Miguel Vargas to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Yankees on top, 7-4. For the game, Vargas had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Vargas, "and then get after it again."
The Yankees saw their record improve to 64-64.
