The Pittsburgh Pirates got a superb performance from pitcher Kasey Allen, but the Colorado Rockies still won the game, 5-2. Allen threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball. The triumph puts Colorado at 72-58 for the season.

Colorado used the clutch hitting of Julio Rodriguez to snag the win. The center fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rockies ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"Good win for us," said Rodriguez. "Now we'll focus on the next one."
