The Texas Rangers picked up a win at Oakland Coliseum, dropping the Oakland Athletics, 4-3. Brett Kerry, who is tied for 7th in the AL with a 9.2 K/9 rate, was the difference-maker. Joe James, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-6. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.1 innings. Joe Jimenez notched his 27th save in 32 chances.

Austin, Texas-born Brett Baty came through in the clutch. In the top of the ninth, with the bases loaded and the Rangers trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Texas on top.

"I like what I saw today," said Texas manager Rob Hale, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."

Texas is now 64-64.
