Phillies Slip Past Toronto, 5-4
|
Philadelphia starter Dusty Porter pitched effectively against the Toronto Blue Jays at Citizens Bank Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-4. Dylan Coleman, now 7-6, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 1. The slumping Blue Jays have lost 7 straight.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Diego Velasquez came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Toronto pitcher Jose Ferrer, he hit a 2-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Philadelphia on top, 5-4.
"Dusty was able to execute his pitches," said Philadelphia manager Brian Abdilla. "Simple as that."
