Cincinnati beat Cleveland in a rain-soaked ballgame.

Cleveland got a big-time effort from pitcher Aaron Nola, but it wasn't enough to keep the Cincinnati Reds from winning the game, 3-1. Nola threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Cincinnati reliever Alex Wood picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Aaron Nola was saddled with the loss. The save went to Adbert Alzolay, his 29th this season.

Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Nick Gordon to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Reds on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Gordon told a Cincinnati Chronicle reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.

Cincinnati is now 65-61. Cleveland is 55-71.
