Williams Shines, But Yankees Fall Short
|
The Baltimore Orioles overcame a fine performance by New York second baseman Jett Williams to defeat the Yankees, 7-4, at Frederick Douglass Freedom Stadium. Williams was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Yes, it was a win for Baltimore; but their 37-72 mark is nothing to crow about.
Mark Vientos delivered a 3-run home run for Baltimore in the bottom of the third. The first baseman went 3 for 4 in the game, including 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and batted in 3.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Orioles manager Lloyd Boston. "This one was nice to get."
