Yankees Lose Despite Valiant Effort by Vargas
The New York Mets withstood an impressive performance by New York left fielder Miguel Vargas to defeat the Yankees, 7-5, at Yankee Stadium. Vargas hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Owen Murphy was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 5 of 8 save opportunities. New York is now 49-52, New York 50-53.

Jackson Chourio, the former first round draft pick , had a direct impact on the outcome. Chourio contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put New York up, 3-2.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Chourio said.
