6 Straight Wins for Expos
|
New York got a terrific performance from pitcher Alex Santos II, but it wasn't enough to beat the Montreal Expos. Montreal won the Stade Olympique contest, 5-2. Santos II threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Montreal reliever Adam Cimber picked up the win, raising his record to 2-0. Trevor Megill was tagged with the loss. Montreal, at 48-29, is 3 games up in the American League East Division.
Montreal won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With no outs and Trevor Megill on the mound for New York, left fielder Vaun Brown hit a dramatic 3-run home run, bringing Expos fans to their feet.
"Tough ballgame, tough loss," said New York manager Andy Yankees.
