Cardinals Win, 6-3, Extend Streak to 5 Games
|
The St. Louis Cardinals faced a tough opponent in San Francisco pitcher Dustin May, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Busch Stadium by a final score of 6-3. May went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Dario Gardea came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-2. Paul Sewald picked up the save for St. Louis, his 24th of the year.
Andy Farley, who leads the NL with a .456 on-base percentage, chipped in for St. Louis with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said St. Louis manager Zach Parkhurst.
The Cardinals have an impressive 52-24 record.
