The San Diego Padres withstood an impressive performance by New York catcher Logan O'Hoppe to defeat the Mets, 6-5, at Tony Gwynn Stadium. O'Hoppe was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The Padres now own a record of 39-36.

Jonathan Martin was the walk-off hero for San Diego. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Padres first baseman hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said New York manager Brent Natwick. "But we decided not to take it."
