The Riverside Boomers stopped the Yonkers Kangaroos by a score of 11-6 at Kangaroos Field, with the lion's share of the credit going to shortstop Gabe Springer. The 25-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.

"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Springer said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."

Springer did just that in his 6 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Kangaroos.

"Not much that I can say," offered Yonkers manager . "He just hammered the heck out of us."

Gabe Springer singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Gilberto Chisitam in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and struck out in the 9th.

Springer is batting .343 with 10 home runs and 42 RBIs this season.
