Even as a kid, Josh Tate said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Captains Fields today, Tate showed how well he learned that lesson.

The 21-year-old shortstop had 6 hits in 6 at-bats for the Lubbock Captains, helping his team knock off the Lincoln Rush by a score of 19-17.

"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today."

Josh Tate singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Pedro Peralta in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
