Durieux Helps Chicago Cruise to 10-3 Win
|
The Chicago Cubs topped the Brooklyn Dodgers, 10-3, with second baseman Ezio Durieux playing a big role. Durieux went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 5 for the Cubs in the win. Jacob Hudson, the winner, improved to 5-4. He held Brooklyn to 3 runs on 5 hits over 7 innings, while racking up 14 strikeouts. The save was credited to Ethan Roberts, his 2nd.
Arol Vera was 2-5 with 2 singles for Chicago. The 26-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring single off Zach Leary. It was his 29th hit of the season.
"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Chicago manager Josh Widener.
The win for the Cubs lifted their record to 33-19.
