The bats were silent much of the day at Citi Field. But Jackson Chourio conjured up just enough offense to carry the Mets past the Brooklyn Dodgers, 3-1. Chourio was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Owen Murphy earned the save, his 19th, for the Mets. The 6th-place Mets raised their record to 78-83.

In the first inning, Chourio had a 2-run home run for New York. It was his 20th home run of the season and put the Mets on top, 2-0.

"This was a tough loss," said Brooklyn manager Mike Dodgers. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
