Nationals Tag Pirates with 9-1 Loss
|
The Washington Nationals and starting pitcher Spencer Strider stifled the Pittsburgh offense en route to a comfortable 9-1 win at PNC Park. The Nationals saw their record improve to 84-75.
Washington relied on the hitting of Pat Herring to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put the Nationals on top, 1-0. For the game, Herring had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It feels good to get this one," Herring told the Washington News.
