Yankees Top Orioles in Extras, 5-4
|
The New York Yankees wiggled past the Baltimore Orioles, 5-4, at Yankee Stadium. The win was highlighted by the performance of New York pitcher Brandon Woodruff. New York reliever Yency Almonte got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Josh Hader was tagged with the loss. The victory gives the Yankees a record of 20-14.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when New York pinch hitter Angel Martinez, facing Liam Hendriks, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Yankees the 5-4 win.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Woodruff said in his postgame press conference.
