Red Sox Sting Twins, 4-3
|
The Boston Red Sox beat the Minnesota Twins, 4-3, at Fenway Park. The win was due in part to first baseman Luke Storm, who was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Jake Stirnaman, the winner, goes to 3-1. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 1 strikeout over 5.1 innings. River Ryan picked up the save, his 1st.
Boston designated hitter Masataka Yoshida contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a changeup into center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 28th hit of the season and put the Red Sox ahead, 4-3.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Storm.
Minnesota falls to 21-12.
