The Aberdeen Ironbirds did little to support starter Slim Love against the Richmond Virginians, but it turned out he didn't need the help.

The left-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Virginians, striking out 8 and surrendering 3 hits. The performance from Love allowed Aberdeen to escape with the 2-0 win, despite an anemic offense.

"Nobody came to me and said, 'Slim, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Love told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."

This year, Love has compiled a 2-2 record with a 5.96 ERA.
