Phillies Bag 2-1 Win
|
The Philadelphia Phillies took Cincinnati pitcher Carlos Resendiz's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Citizens Bank Park. The final score had Philadelphia getting past the Reds, 2-1. Resendiz went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 5. The winner in relief was Aaron Nola. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 4.1 innings. The last-place Phillies have won 4 in a row.
The Phillies got a big at-bat from catcher Bryan Chiarenza. For the game, Chiarenza went 1 for 2 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 13th home run of the season gave Philadelphia a 2-1 lead.
"You have to win 1-0, 3-2, 2-1 games if you want to get to where you want to go," said Phillies manager Dan T.
