Buelvas, Mathes Suspended for Fracas Friday, August 16th , 2024 If there wasn't a history between Brayan Buelvas of St. Lucie and Alden Mathes of Clearwater, then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 5 and 11 games respectively as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today. "We're both really competitive," Buelvas said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it." Thus far this year, Buelvas has hit .208 with 3 home runs and 17 RBIs. For the season, Mathes has made 6 relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 0-3 won-lost mark and a 11.12 ERA. In pitching 17 innings, he has totaled 22 strikeouts and 6 walks. |
