Money-washers Earn Late Win
|
It was pandemonium at Riyadh Stadium after an exciting walk-off win.
Pere Cheney got a valiant performance from pitcher Jorge Garduno, but it wasn't enough to beat the Riyadh Money-washers. Riyadh won the game, 3-2. Garduno threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Danny Baca, now 3-2, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 0.
Jim Richards was the walk-off hero for Riyadh. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Money-washers shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"The ending was a real humdinger," Richards told reporters after the game.
