Pittsburgh has worked out terms of a deal to send 31-year old 2B Phil Garner, 31-year old RF George Hendrick, and 31-year old minor league RHP Doug Bair to Kansas City for 29-year old RF Gorman Thomas. Both teams expect to introduce their new players at press conferences later in the week.

Kansas City will retain a portion of Thomas's remaining contract.

Hendrick has a lifetime .274 average with 1153 hits, 169 doubles, 13 triples, 152 home runs and 474 RBIs to date.

Thomas has a career .231 average with 438 hits, 79 doubles, 1 triple, 124 home runs, 354 RBIs, and 297 runs scored to date.
