Manager Thomas Purged by Seattle Saturday, October 25th , 1980 A press conference announcing the firing of Frank Thomas has been set for today by the Seattle Mariners. When pressed for reasons behind the decision to fire Thomas, Seattle GM Thomas said, "We spoke in my office for an hour and decided that it was time to make a change. Unfortunately, his philosophy was no longer working in the clubhouse and a new voice was necessary for us to continue moving in the right direction." A replacement is expected to be named to the media soon. |
