Philadelphia-San Diego Deal: Ferguson for Barber Saturday, January 5th , 1980 Trade winds have been blowing through Philadelphia. This time, a deal has materialized between the Phillies and Padres. According to sources inside the organization, Philadelphia will ship 33-year old C Joe Ferguson to San Diego for 31-year old RHP Steve Barber. Ferguson is hitting .220 lifetime with 781 hits, 141 doubles, 12 triples, 101 home runs, and 468 RBIs to date. He has scored 440 runs and stolen 9 bases. Barber has posted a career 8-and-9 record with 1 save and a 4.10 ERA. |
