Twins Pick Up 4-1 Win
|
Minnesota Twins pitcher Doug Bird was in fine form, leading his team past the California Angels, 4-1. Dick Ruthven earned the save, his 1st, for the Twins. The win gives Minnesota a record of 2-3.
One of the key players for the Twins was center fielder Ron LeFlore, who drilled a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning. For the game, LeFlore went 2-5 with 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"Doug did a tremendous job," said Minnesota manager Karl Olson.
