The Lincoln Links withstood an impressive performance by Helena second baseman Jose Baez to defeat the Seaporters, 9-6, at Seaport Stadium. Baez was 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win belongs to Jerry Don Gleaton in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Charlie Williams took the loss for Helena. With the win, Lincoln has a record of 84-47. Helena falls to 65-66.

Lincoln used a timely hit from Bill Swoope to get the win. The right fielder delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the 12th inning to put the Links on top, 8-6. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was huge.

"We're developing a swagger," said Swoope.
