The Lincoln Links weathered an outstanding game by Tucson center fielder Gene Gentile to topple the Toros, 8-5. Gentile went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Lincoln pitcher Luke Walker got the win, upping his record to 13-6. Jody Norris got the loss. Dave Pagan, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 12th save.

Lincoln relied on the hitting of Bill Swoope to pick up the win. The center fielder ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the second inning to put the Links on top, 5-2. For the game, Swoope had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

Swoope said afterward that "winning is what it's all about."

The Links improve their record to 75-47 with the win over Tucson.
