Baltimore left fielder Dan Meyer was sensational. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Cleveland beat the Orioles, 6-5. With the win over Baltimore, the Indians improved to 64-92.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Alan Ashby came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Baltimore pitcher Bruce Sutter, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cleveland on top, 6-5.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Baltimore manager John Fitzgerald. "The effort was great."
