Royals Spill Rangers, 5-1
|
Kansas City Royals starter Robert Sekel was dealing. He helped his team knock off the Texas Rangers, 5-1. The winning pitcher was Sekel, now 6-4. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. The third-place Royals have won 4 straight.
Kansas City used the bat of Frank White to get the win. The second baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the first inning to put the Royals ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"You score one run, you're not going to win," said Texas skipper Marv Grissom. "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
