Yankees Buried By Twins, 14-1
|
The Minnesota Twins used an offensive barrage to beat the New York Yankees, 14-1, at Metropolitan Stadium. John Stearns led the way, going 3-for-4 for Minnesota. At 14-8, the Twins have played well so far.
With Minnesota leading 10-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Stearns came up to bat against New York pitcher Stan Bahnsen. Stearns hit a curveball to left for a grand slam home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Twins on top, 14-1.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Richie Ashburn.
