Denver Bears starter George Whileyman hurled his team past the North Platte Buffalos, 3-1. Whileyman, now 5-3, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 1, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Don Demola earned the save for Denver, his 4th of the year.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Don Demola didn't flinch. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and North Platte trailing 2-1, Demola retired Thomas Smith to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Demola, with a wink.
The 4th-place Bears are 74-58.
